Dress The Part With An Elsa Costume
Themed birthday parties are more fun when there are fancy dress costumes involved as well. This Elsa costume from The Costume Party Shop comes in sizes 3 – 8 and costs $55.95. It’s a really sweet little dress that features an Elsa motif on the chest, has sparkling mesh glitter sleeves and cape and has a light blue satiny skirt. The Costume Party Shop also stocks blonde wigs you could easily fishtail into a plait if you really want to nail Elsa’s look. However if wigs are too expensive or uncomfortable doing a fishtail in your child’s hair on your own does the job just fine.

If your daughter prefers Anna to Elsa The Costume Party Shop keeps Anna costumes in store, however you can fashion together your own Anna outfit pretty easily. Anna usually wears a pink cape worn over either a long bohemian-style skirt with a bodice on top, or a long-sleeved ankle-length dress. The Costume Party Shop has an Anna wig fashioned into two pigtail plaits.
Create a Winter Wonderland
In ‘Frozen’ Elsa has magic powers that she uses to make a castle made of ice, create a sidekick snow man and she covers her surroundings with a thick layer of snow and icicles. There are plenty of ways to bring a mini magical ‘Frozen’ snowstorm into your home.
To decorate your party room stick to a colour palette of white, light grey and light blue. The Costume Party Shop has a dedicated section for tableware decorations that would suit a ‘Frozen’ theme including plastic cups, plastic plates, napkins, plastic cutlery and tablecloths in these colours. In addition to decorating in wintery colours you can also purchase licensed tableware and decorations that actually have ‘Frozen’ prints on them, for example these paper cups with Anna and Elsa on them which cost $5.95 for a pack of 8. See the The Costume Party Shop online shop for more.
The Costume Party Shop keep a whole range of different balloons that would fit the ‘Frozen’ theme perfectly. There are silver and blue balloons that feature a sparkly frost print across them, shimmery light blue and grey balloons, 90cm jumbo balloons in wintry colours, balloons in assorted colours with Elsa printed in white on the front and Disney Frozen foil print balloons (these would look extra special pumped with helium).

DIY Frozen Birthday Party Pro Tip
Cut-out snowflakes are pretty and help add a mystical snowstorm vibe to the room. You can make snowflake cut-outs yourself just with white paper and a pair of scissors. Homemade snowflakes look better when they’re made from square paper, so if you’ve got A4 paper first cut out a large square by bringing one corner to the opposite edge of the paper and cut. Once you’ve got a square fold it in half to make a triangle and then fold it in half again. From here you can cut diamond and triangle shapes of all different sizes until it is scattered with cut-outs. You can also trim the edge of the paper so it’s patterned too. Unfold your square and voila! You have a one-of-a-kind snowflake that you can hang from string or scatter around the room.
Have a Frozen Feast
Having predominantly white, cream or light coloured foods will ensure your party food menu is in keeping with the ‘Frozen’ theme. Some quick party food ideas include; white marshmallows, vanilla milkshakes, sugar cookies with white frosting, fairy bread with pastel hundreds & thousands, white chocolate rocky road, etc. The Costume Party Shop has snowflake cookie cutters so you can make icy-themed cookies.

We love these cupcake toppers from Small Favours. We think this set of cute Frozen cupcake toppers would look amazing on top of Vanilla Cupcakes with Snowy Meringue Frosting. We adapted this recipe from taste.com and Donna Hay.

125g butter
2 eggs
1/3 cup milk
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Preheat the oven to 160C.
Place the flour, sugar, butter, eggs, milk and vanilla in an electric mixer and beat on a medium speed for 2 minutes or until pale and smooth. Add an extra dash of milk if needed.
Line a tray of 12 cupcakes with cupcake cases. Spoon mixture evenly into cupcake cases.
Bake for 20 – 24 minutes or until a skewer comes out clean. Cupcakes should be a golden brown.
Fluffy Meringue Frosting
2 egg whites
1 cup caster sugar
1. Place egg whites, sugar and 1/8 cup cold water in a large heatproof bowl. Whisk until combined and sugar has dissolved a little.
2. Place the bowl over a saucepan of simmering water while continuing to whisk.
3. Remove bowl from heat and beat egg white mixture for 15 minutes or until soft peaks form. You may have to return bowl to heat intermittently.
4. Beat until cooled. Icing should be glossy white and able to hold its shape.
Mixing up a jug of your own signature party drink makes your ‘Frozen’ menu more special as well. This is a recipe we invented on our own. It’s delicious, tangy and sweet without being overpowering.
Frozen Elixir
1/3 cup Roar Living Cordial in Cool Mint flavour
1 bottle of Tonic Water
1 sliced lemon
Ice cubes
1. Mix all ingredient together in a serving jug and pour it up to your guests!
Now that you’ve got a pretty mocktail type of drink you need to pick how you wish to serve it. The Costume Party Shop has serving jugs, drink dispensers, party cups and pretty paper straws.
